Transition to School
This class is run on a Thursday afternoon by our reception teacher and focuses on developing a child's readiness for school. It allows children to experience what school is like in a relaxed classroom environment.
WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?
For children who will be turning five years old this year. ONE parent/caregiver must attend the first session with the child, with the idea that when your child is ready, they will attend the sessions on their own. This it to further develop their readiness for school by encouraging independence and promoting our school vision of being a courageous learner.
The 'Transition to school' programme may be attended for up to four weeks before they turn five, when spaces permit.
Transition time is held on a Wednesday afternoon once a week from 1.45pm - 2.45pm, however, we are flexible and can tailor a programme for your child's specific needs. This is a free once a week class that can be in addition to the Kindy, Kohanga Reo, Playcentre, Day Care or Pre-School that your child may already be attending.
